I came across this useful website whilst researching the UK retail sector - though it can be used to gather data from any industry or sector in the UK…

There other, similar websites out there, but this one seems to be one of the best - the Hay Salary Tracker.  Hays is the UK’s leading recruitment agency, so their sample sizes must be amongst the largest available.

Type in a job title and a postcode - the tracker will provide latest information about average salaries or pay for that job.  You can compare by region and between the private / public sector.  I also like the way that the data distribution is shown, adding a little more insight than simply the pure average (or mean).

Great for students to compare the pay for different occupations, locations and more.
