Here is a great example of a food manufacturing business that has reinvented itself to successfully exploit a niche for luxury food products. The video link would make a great lesson starter resource and there is lots of business studies content that can be drawn out through discussion and further research.

The FT Enterprising Britain series contains some great video interviews with entrepreneurs, and the story of Fudges is no exception.

This video lasts just over 4 minutes and explains how Fudges changed its strategy in order to survive in the highly competitive food manufacturing sector.

It is also worth visiting the Fudges website for further information.

Amongst the key business studies content referred to in the video, your students would hopefully pick up on some or all of the following:

- Production methods
- Importance of quality
- Market analysis to support strategic decisions
- Supply and demand
- Choice of location for a manufacturing operation (rural)
- Distribution
- Health & safety
- Innovation & new product development
- Brands and building brand value
- Partnering with other brands
