We still have a few places left for our annual ICT in Business / Economics CPD day, which takes place at the British Library on Friday 4 March 2011.  Full details of the speakers and sessions below.

Programme & Speaker Details:

Steven Clarke
Steve is Head of Business Studies & ICT at Farnham Heath End School - a Maths & Computing Specialist, and is on the Senior Leadership Team responsible for ICT strategy.  For the past two years he has been a Leading Professional (ICT) for Surrey. 

In his session, Steven will be giving ideas for developing a VLE that will engage students and improve learning through more structured and consistent teaching.  He will introduce some of his favourite free software, social media, and apps and share ideas for how this can be applied in a business lesson.

Geoff Riley
Geoff is Head of Teaching & Learning Technologies at Eton College. Geoff’s session will focus on using Google Docs for collaborative work between students.

Wayne Holmes and Ben Barton
Wayne and Ben are co-founders (along with Doug Lansley) of Zondle.com, an innovative platform which allows teachers to create and monitor revision-based games for learning.  Wayne and Ben will outline the key benefits of using games-based learning and explain how delegates can quickly develop their own resources for economics & business studies.

Jim Riley
Jim is co-founder and Managing Director of tutor2u, on of the world’s busiest educational websites.  In Jim’s session,he’ll demonstrate how teachers and students can create a free daily newsreport which summarises all the latest, relevant news stories.  A great way to save time and encourage students to read more widely without getting too lost!

Simon Briscoe
Simon is Vice President of Product at Timetric - the innovative new source of economics and business data.  Prior to joining Timetric in 2010, Simon worked at the Financial Times, where he spent a decade as Statistics Editor. Before that he was Managing Director of Research at Nikko Europe and a senior economist at SG Warburg and HSBC.

In his session, Simon will outline how teachers and students can access, visualise and analyse relevant data sources.
