Characteristics of an entrepreneur - Fil Adams-Mercer
Recommend on Google+
Born into poverty; can’t spell for toffee; no qualifications. So why is this serial entrepreneur a multi-millionaire?
Don’t let the double-barelled surname fool you. Fil Adams-Mercer had a tough upbringing and his success is certainly not the result of a privileged public school education. Far from it.
I’m always fascinated by interviews which provide an insight into the personal characteristics of successful entrepreneurs - and this one is a belter.
Adams-Mercer is the inspiration behind Parcel2Go, a supplier to many thousands of small e-commerce businesses who are defying the recession by growing their businesses online. eBay UK alone now has 180,000+ businesses trading using their platform and a good percentage turn to Parcel2Go for their fulfilment requirements.
Adams-Mercer’s work ethic (credited to his step-father) shines through during the interview as does his refreshingly honest approach to taking business risks. His story is very much one of a serial entrepreneur, investing in a large number of businesses and always looking out for market opportunities. The deal he has struck with his youngest daughter about tuition fees and university debt is also quite creative and entrepreneurial!
Well worth a read.
