I have developed a new dual assignment developed to cover 2 units of the new 2010 BTEC. Those familiar to BTEC will notice that many units have been half sized and added to on the new specification, increasing the workload for both programme managers and students alike.

Following a recent request from a school, I have developed a joint assignment for the communication units on the new BTEC First 2010 spec. In terms of content, the assignment has been refined from the old Unit 4 assignment that I shared with delegates at the 2008 Tutor2u BTEC Conference in London. A centre’s existing communication resources can be deployed in conjunction with the assignment brief.
Whilst still a work in progress, the assignment should provide teachers with an early platform from which they can adapt the custom to their local needs, whilst reducing the amount of teaching time required in light of the effective ‘extra’ unit imposed as a result of the new credit system. I hope those in the Tutor2u community find it a helpful resource. All comments welcome.
