Here’s a great example to use with business students when it comes to teaching the nature and purpose of business aims and objectives.  The two leading social networks - Twitter and Facebook - have both set themselves the same aim. They want to reach 1 billion users.  The rationale behind this aim is essentially the same for both.  With a scale of 1 billion users, the revenue and profit potential of each network is phenomenal, and this is what translates into significant value for shareholders.
