The substantial rise in youth unemployment in the UK is starting to hit certain markets harder than others.  Here is a great example to use with business students…

The Times reports how sales at sports fashion chain JD Sports are weaker - largely as a result of lower consumer spending by its target customer segment of 18-24 year olds.  The drop in demand (customer spending) is attributed to the significant rise in youth unemployment recently.

The article also picks up on other consumer markets which are suffering from the same unemployment effect, including the nightclub market.
