This short BBC video is a really useful stimulus piece for students who could look at how demand for domestic leisure trips (holidays, day visits, short-breaks) has boomed during 2009…
The domestic tourism industry is enjoying one of its best years for some time (in 2009), with all the signs pointing to continued prosperity for the remainder of the year.
Demand has been boosted by a weakening of the exchange rate, which makes it more attractive for overseas visitors to come to the UK as well as more expensive for UK residents to holiday abroad.
The credit crunch may also be encouraging consumers to spend a little less on leisure, and spend it closer to home.
