Who’d have thought that women couldn’t wash and iron?  Since when were tips given for appalling customer service?  And which BBC producer decided to run with one of the biggest travesties in Apprentice history?

I got the distinct impression that there was someone in the production team shouting into Sir Alan’s earpiece “No! Don’t fire the interesting people! Fire the boring woman! Think of the ratings!”

Still, onwards and upwards. Next week the teams have to organise the launch of a major airport terminal.  And here is our summary of the programme.

A fantastic opening to series 4 of The Apprentice had the 16 hopefuls dumped immediately into the smelly, cut-throat world of a fish market.  Did the contestants look out of plaice? Will the competition prove a bream come true?  And will we see the losers carping about how things could have been much, much batter?

The fourth series of one of the most popular television shows for business studies teachers and students returns to our TV screens tonight.  Sixteen new applicants have made it though to the shortlist for the role of Sir Alan Sugar’s next Apprentice, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Tim Campbell, Michelle Dewberry and Simon Ambrose.
