Market Shares and Chocolate - a Cool IWB Resource

And then there were three… Well, four if you include little Ferrero. Now that Cadbury has been consumed by Kraft, there are loads of great resources out there to sustain business lessons over the next year or so. And here is a cracker from the Guardian which would work a treat on the IWB. An interactive guide to revenues and market share by confectionery group AND brand. Some great potential here for IWB-based quizzes and for some follow-up calculations comparing and contrasting the revenues and market shares of particular brands.

Business Week in Pictures
A cross-posting from my blogging colleague Jon Mace who has spotted an excellent resource in the Guardian ..... over to Jon
I have stumbled across an excellent resource on The Guardian website. I am always keen that my students have a good awareness of current goings on in the world of business and economics. I try to devote one lesson a week to examining the business news. Ways in which I do this vary from watching BBC news video clips to getting them to do a tutor2u Biz Quiz. The resource I have found is the Business News in Pictures- 10 pictures and a piece of text with each that highlight the business events of the week. They should provide a good stimulus for class discussion.
We are really pleased that Martin Hartnett has also joined the IB blogging team.
Research Start-Ups! Team Challenge

My first lesson with the AS students next week. Keen to get them buzzing about business start-ups, what better way than to set them a research task in the form of a team challenge!

This week sees me heading back to the whiteboard; teaching AS and A2 Business Students at Sir john Deanes in Northwich. Each week I intend to set the students a weekly team challenge. An opportunity to test prior learning, develop their knowledge and understanding of the AQA Business course and hopefully engage the students with some entertaining and challenging lesson activities. I will share the resources and activities on the tutor2u blog and if you feel the need to contribute your own team challenge activities, please do!
Week 1 will kick off with the X Factor Challenge. It combines a PowerPoint quiz, based on basic A2 terms and business news, with a physical challenge, (I was inspired by the TV game show “The Cube”)
