Making Finance Fun
21 June 2012: Mint Hotel, 1 Auburn Street, Manchester, M1 3DG
Presenters: Graham Prior, Michelle Stephenson & Jim Riley
Love it or hate it, finance is an essential part of every Business Studies course, but is one of those topics that many teachers find difficult to make interesting and engaging.
This CPD course has been designed with those concerns in mind and is packed full with a variety of innovative and interactive approaches and resources designed to make teaching finance fun. The course is ideal for both GCSE and GCE as well as vocational Level 2 and 3 courses such as BTEC First & National and Cambridge Nationals. Over the course of the day, we will look at a range of starters, main lesson activities, plenaries and more, including:
Engaging ways to introduce financial topics such as calculating profits and cash flow to students;
Innovative financial starters and plenaries to build student confidence interpreting financial statements or extracts;
Exercises to help students tackle breakeven calculations and analysis;
Main and summary activities to develop and consolidate understanding such as Kinaesthetic Cash Flow and the Human Balance Sheet.
All the materials provided are ready for immediate use with your business students. They are also editable, enabling you to tweak, extend or share the approaches with your teaching colleagues and personalise them for the specific needs of your students.
